November is National Healthy Skin Month, a time to pay attention to your skin and focus on skin health. Daily sun protection is an important part of a healthy skin routine, helping to prevent early signs of skin aging, sunburn and skin cancer.
"Even for those who’ve spent a lifetime outdoors, adopting sun-safe practices today can make a meaningful difference in your skin’s health,” explains Beth Goldstein, MD, a physician member of The Skin Cancer Foundation practicing in North Carolina, where Governor Josh Stein issued a proclamation recognizing November as Healthy Skin Month.
This month is also a time to extend heartfelt thanks to our amazing community of skin cancer warriors and healthy skin champions who share their stories to spread awareness. Here’s a recent share from a member of our Facebook community.
“As I have metastatic melanoma, I beg people to please be careful, wear sunscreen, no tanning beds, they are harmful, it may not get you now, but years down the line, yes, it will. I had a few bad sunburns in my teens. Since then, I haven’t been a sun worshipper. But in my 60s, it got me. It’s no joke. Please be responsible when in the sun.”
Every year, our programs, fueled by your support and involvement, reach more people and save more lives
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. |
